Fixed Costs - Why not mediate?

Fixed recoverable costs mean that there is a limit in most cases to the legal costs that can be recovered from the other party. This creates the perfect opportunity to mediate and try to resolve matters before costs escalate.

As well as being an advocate I also act as a mediator. I have access to venues in Birmingham London Liverpool and Manchester. Of course people are increasingly mediating online as well.

I have mediated many cases including wills and probate inheritance cases, TOLATA claims, breach of contract, boundary disputes and also discrimination claims.

Clients are increasingly going to be wanting to limit legal costs to the costs that can be recovered from the other party. Solicitors who resolve cases within their budget are going to be favoured by clients keen to keep legal costs down.

In the most recent case we mediated we saved the parties from a £200,000 costs bill. This shows how mediation can be great value for money.

Moreover we received great feedback from a vulnerable litigant in person demonstrating how we deal with matters in a sensitive way. (She gave permission for these comments to be published)
